I don’t kiss on-screen as I have inhibitions, says Sonakshi Sinha

Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha is the only actress who hasn't locked lips in any of the movies and she says she won't kiss on screen as she is not comfortable.
When asked about kissing in her films, Sonakshi Sinha told indianexpress.com, "Obviously there are inhibitions. That's why I don't do it in my films."

After Tevar, Sonakshi will be next seen in AR Murugadoss' upcoming action drama Akira. She will be seen fiercely throwing punches, roundhouse kicks and many other daredevil stunts in the film. Not many actresses in Bollywood have tried their hand at martial arts and doing stunts in their films, as compared to actresses in Hollywood. However, Sonakshi has managed to break that perception with Akira.

Sonakshi said, "First of all I would like to take that as a compliment. To get compared with Hollywood is a big thing for me. I am happy that I have got noticed for my hard work. I went through a lot of physical training for this film as doing action, applying punches and kicking high is not an easy thing. You have to be fit and only then can you do such things. Also, actresses don't get a chance to showcase their abilities and action in Bollywood. In Hollywood, they give actresses opportunities to do action and other stuff. I hope with Akira, actresses in Bollywood would start getting action roles and perform stunts."

Apart from doing high-octane action sequences in the film, understanding her character's emotional feelings and situation was the most challenging for the Dabangg actress. "Getting into the mindset of the character was challenging for me. The pain, the situation she has been through and to portray that was not easy for me since I have never been in such a situation and I have never faced such an environment. And then, learning martial arts and doing stunts in the movie also took a lot out of me," she said.

Sonakshi will be seen kicking the butt of the bad guy in Akira. When we asked if she has done the same thing in real life as well, she laughed and told us, " Yes. I have punched and kicked someone but I won't take his name.

Padmavati: Deepika Padukone is not being paid Rs 11 crore, says Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s rep.

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's spokesperson says reports stating that actress Deepika Padukone has been paid around Rs 11 crore for her next film Padmavati are completely false.
According to the reports, Deepika is the highest paid actress in Bollywood and after bagging a Hollywood project and delivering back-to-back hit films in Bollywood, she has hiked her fee.

"The reports surrounding the star cast remuneration for 'Padmavati' are completely false. The rumours are baseless and are being blown out of proportion," the spokesperson of Bhansali told IANS.

Only recently, Deepika has also emerged out as one of the highest-paid actresses in the world. She is also making her Hollywood debut with xXx: The Return of Xander Cage starring Vin Diesel.

To be directed by Bhansali, Padmavati also stars Ranveer Singh. Deepika and Bhansali have come together for the third time after the success of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is keeping mum on his casting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati but the film’s costume designer has let out that the actor is indeed on board for the period drama. There have been numerous media reports about Ranveer’s casting in the film, with some suggesting he is again teaming up with Bhansali, while others claiming the actor had a fallout with the director and opted out of the project.

It, however, seems that the speculation can be put to rest now as costume designer Ajay Kumar, who has begun the work on Padmavati, posted on Instagram that both Ranveer and actress Deepika Padukone are part of the movie.

Why PM Modi's Bold Gambit on Balochistan May Boomerang.

In statecraft, especially in that fine craft called espionage, there is a term which is very commonly used. Plausible deniability. It was first used back in the fifties by the CIA’s legendary Director Allen Dulles, after whose family the Dulles Airport in Washington is named. Back then the US used to run a series of covert operations, many of them were geared towards assassinating Fidel Castro. It also included regime changes in countries whose rulers were not favourable to America, like Iran and Guatemala and culminating in the Bay of Pigs fiasco.

Some of these operations were successful, others were not. But the important thing was the US President had no direct knowledge of any of these covert goings on. And it was deliberately kept so by the top dogs at the CIA. The reason was simple. Plausible deniability. If it got to a stage where the US President had to testify before Congress or before the courts or before the American public, then he or she could plead innocence citing no direct knowledge.

India’s involvement in Balochistan always fell in that grey area called plausible denial. Up until Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day speech. Although India’s covert operations in Pakistan had officially been called off back in 1997 when IK Gujral was prime minister, no one quite took it to be the gospel truth. Certainly no one in Pakistan did. Look no further than the August 7 attack at Quetta’s civil hospital which wiped away almost all of that city’s legal fraternity. Quetta is the capital of Balochistan.

Ramya on sedition case: Will not apologise for my Pakistan remark, said nothing wrong.

Actor-politician Divya Spandana, responding to the sedition charge filed against her, said she will not apologise for her comments on Pakistan as this would go against the cause that everyone is fighting against. "I don’t have an ego at all and in any given incident, I would have apologised, but if I do in this case, the larger cause we're fighting for would go," she said.

She had earlier spoken about Pakistan, praising the people for their hospitality, 'outraged' by which, a lawyer in Karnataka filed a case of sedition against the former Lok Sabha MP, who also goes by the name Ramya.

The ex-Congress MP said, "Its really sad but such is situation in country today. Everybody is entitled to their views and that is what democracy is about. You can't force your ideology on anyone."

Reiterating her earlier remarks, Ramya said, "I respectfully disagree, Pakistan is not hell, people there are just like us." She was referring to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's remarks that going to hell and going to Pakistan were the same.

Ramya, who visited Pakistan to attend the Saarc meeting of young parliamentarians had spoken of how she felt the people of Pakistan were very welcoming and went out of their way to make her stay comfortable on getting to know she was from India.

"Politicians want to polarise and spread hatred. Just because borders separate us we shouldn't hate others," she said adding to her reply to the sedition charge.

'Why Would I Lie?' OP Jaisha, Who Collapsed In Rio, Takes On Officials.

Bengaluru: Runner OP Jaisha has strongly refuted the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) allegation that she refused energy drinks as she ran the marathon at the Rio Olympics.

Jaisha, 33, collapsed at the finish line and has said that she ran the gruelling 42-km race without support from Indian officials who were missing at desks placed by countries a few kilometres apart so that their competitors can be offered refreshments.

But CK Valson, a top AFI official has said it is untrue that officials were missing. He said that Jaisha and her coach had refused the offer to have refreshments served at the counters that Indian officials could have manned.

"Why would I lie? There was no water in Rio...I am not blaming the Sports  Authority of India or the administration...After 21 km, I was really exhausted, I couldn't even walk for a metre," the Kerala athlete told NDTV on Monday night.

"There needs to be an inquiry...I am sure that had something grave happened to me, AFI would have still said that OP Jaisha didn't avail refreshment," she told news agency ANI.

During a marathon, competitors' countries are entitled to place a desk every 2.5 km to offer them liquids. Instead, it was official Olympics counters - placed about 8 km apart - that Jaisha had to rely on, the athlete has alleged.

Nationalism Being Questioned in Name of Freedom of Expression: Amit Shah

BJP national President Amit Shah on Sunday said the spirit of nationalism and patriotism united the country and regretted that it had "become a fashion" to question one's nationalism in the guise of freedom of expression.

Remembering sacrifices made by freedom fighters and martyrs for India's independence, Shah said: "The country can remain united only if there is spirit of nationalism and patriotism. If there was no nationalism or patriotism, there would have been no independence, if there was no independence, there would have been no Constitution."

Speaking at an event to mark the 70th year of Independence here, about 350 km from Bengaluru, Shah said it had become a fashion to question one's nationalism in the guise of freedom of expression, and that a few people were campaigning even on social media and asking if nationalism was necessary or not.

"It has become a fashion nowadays for a few people in a few places to question nationalism. This is being done in different places and theories are being planted.

"Nationalism is being questioned in the name of freedom of expression," Shah said at the Tiranga Yatra' (Tricolour tour), organised by the party's state unit to celebrate 'Freedom 70-Remembering sacrifices' at Mangalore University campus.

Recalling how Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged for upholding the principles of nationalism and patriotism, the party chief urged the youth to read the history to realise how many people had sacrificed for the country's independence during the 90-year (1857-1947) freedom struggle.

"Bhagat Singh also fought for freedom of speech. There is no problem if you question a party or its ideology. But you cannot call it freedom of speech when you want to propagate anti-national ideologies," Shah pointed out.

Noting that a handful of people were trying to separate the nation, Shah said the country could not be without nationalism.

Abhay Deol feels it’s harder to hold on to relationships in showbiz

Abhay Deol, who has always maintained a dignified silence about his personal life, recently revealed about the breakup with his partner Preeti Desai.
According to a Mumbai Mirror report, the 40-year-old actor, during an interaction, said that holding on to relationships is lot more difficult for actors as they are always under public eye.
“In our world, it is harder to hold on to relationships. I usually avoid speaking about my personal life but in the case of my last relationship (with Preeti Desai), it was difficult to keep it under wraps. She, too, was an actor. We were doing a film together. If I could, I would’ve happily lied and said I am single. I don’t feel the reason to tell the truth,” he said.

The ‘Raanjhanaa’ actor further said that this constant public scrutiny makes things much difficult to let go.
“The desire to protect your relationship when you are open to public scrutiny is natural. There is too much guessing, speculations et al happening. In such a scenario, it gets more difficult to let go (for both you and your partner),” he added.
On the professional front, Abhay had his romantic-comedy ‘Happy Bhag Jayegi’ released today, which also stars Diana Penty, Ali Fazal, Momal Sheikh and Jimmy Shergill.
Recently many people from the Bollywood industry parted ways from their partner. A season of break-ups and weddings happened almost simultaneously in the industry.

Amitabh Bachchan confirms Ileana D’Cruz in Aankhen 2, actress says she has not signed the film

If there was one thing that we found amiss at the grand launch of Aankhen 2, it was the way Ileana D’Cruz’s name went  unannounced at the event. For starters, every actor from the ensemble cast was introduced by the emcee which was followed by the said actor making a dashing entry. Everyone including Amitabh BachchanArshad Warsi, producer Gaurang Doshi and director Anees Bazmee were introduced in a similar song and dance pattern surrounded by beautiful models.
The two actors who couldn’t make it to the launch owing to not being in town namely Anil Kapoor and Arjun Rampal were also formally introduced by the hostess. While Arjun did send across a videotaped message talking about being in Aankhen 2, there was no video or audio communication from Anil Kapoor’s end. Next in line to be introduced was Regina Cassandra as the leading lady of the film who shook a leg on stage.
Post the introduction of the cast and crew, a mashup promo containing old film shots of all the above introduced actors was played. The surprise element for us was when shots of Ileana appeared. Surprise because the actress was not formally introduced and no one had announced her name as the other leading lady in the film. Another puzzling factor was to see Regina’s pictures going missing from the promo.
